Maintainability (NF074 regulation - Glossary) : "Ability of a fire extinguisher to be maintained, in order to guarantee fitness for use, safety and performance."
Principle of the NF mark (regulation NF074 - 1.3.3): The manufacturer must "have instructions enabling future maintenance of the portable fire extinguishers that it puts on the market, [by] any entity or body whose skills are recognized and/or certified".
The pricing policy for the kits does not allow for distribution. Therefore, the conversion of the devices is not accessible to all certified companies.
Recognizing this position, the French Union of Manufacturers of Fixed and Mobile Fire Extinguishers (SYFEX) specifies that "each service company is free [to adopt or not the conversion kits]".
At this time, the least expensive conversion kit is for EUROFEU brand fire extinguishers. It is likely that the cost of the conversion will remain significantly lower than the cost of a new fire extinguisher.
