Description

The annual inspection of the expansion vessel is one of the basic services performed by a qualified fire safety company.

The NF S 62-201 standard and the APSAD R5 rule specify the regulatory procedures here.
Initially, the installer sets the activation and deactivation pressures. The inflation of the bladder in the expansion vessel allows it to absorb sudden pressure variations when the booster pump is activated. This protects the fire hose reel system.

Equipment that is easy to control and replace

The technician checks annually that the activation thresholds are in line with the installation. Then he checks the pressure in the expansion vessel. A Schrader-type fitting (like those on car tires) is located on top.
If necessary, repressurization can be carried out with a portable electric pump.

If the expansion vessel is faulty, a quarter-turn valve is logically present underneath to allow for maintenance.
Leaks at the expansion vessel are common when the installer installs a less expensive expansion vessel intended for domestic pressure variations.
