Description

Meet the regulatory requirements of your premises

Installing this shovel allows you to bring your safety equipment into compliance with articles CH 10 (ERP boiler rooms), PS 29 (covered parking areas), and R4227-32 of the French Labor Code . This tool is essential for deploying the mandatory 100 liters of absorbent material or sand near hazardous areas, such as fuel storage facilities or operating stations.

Its presence is also required by the APSAD R4 standard for insurance contracts covering liquid fuel boilers. To ensure effective periodic inspection and immediate visibility, it is advisable to place the shovel on a dedicated wall bracket or to verify its dimensional compatibility with the inside of your safety tray.

For solid or liquid fuel boiler rooms , with a useful output exceeding 70 kW for public access buildings (ERP):
- Article CH 10 : "a storage area [...] and a shovel must be kept in the immediate vicinity of the door in an easily accessible place"

For covered parking facilities for public access buildings (ERP), with more than 10 vehicles:
- Article PS29 : "100 litres of absorbent freely accessible at the operating station", or failing an operating station near a main exit.

For residential properties , starting from 100m² of parking:
- Article 96 : In order to limit theft, the regulations favour a bucket with a round bottom instead of a shovel "at each level a box [...] equipped with a bucket with a round bottom and placed near the traffic ramp".

For classified installations , refer to the applicable regulations:
For example, for service stations, under heading no. 1435; the decree provides for 200 litres of absorbent near the filling points with the "means necessary for its implementation".

Labour Code: For the risks mentioned above, among others, article R4227-32 therefore provides for the allocation of a container and a shovel.

A design carefully considered for optimal penetration

The shovel head is made of boron micro-alloy steel , offering mechanical resistance suitable for the heavy stresses of industrial environments. Its rounded tip, combined with a curved rear edge , serves a dual purpose: it facilitates driving the tool into compacted materials and provides stable foot support for increased speed in emergencies.

The rear rim also allows it to retain approximately 1.5 liters of material with each shovelful, ensuring effective coverage of oil or fuel spills without unnecessary loss. This specific shape is particularly advantageous when you need to scoop from a deep or heavily filled sandpit, where resistance to penetration is greatest.

Ergonomics and comfort during intervention

The handle is made of wood , providing a comfortable lever arm that minimizes awkward postures for the user. Its length allows anyone present at the scene to intervene quickly to stop the spread of a liquid, regardless of their physical abilities or height.

The tool features an ergonomic handle combining wood and steel for increased durability and a firm grip during throwing. While there are no specific maintenance requirements for this first-response equipment, an annual inspection of the handle and metal head is recommended during your safety equipment checks.
