Wired solution for multi-zone management

The Type 4 four-zone sector alarm offers a wired solution for managing fire alarms in establishments open to the public (ERP) and establishments open to workers (ERT). It includes an output terminal for the diffusers, four zone terminals (one per zone) and FIRE and AUX relays to control safety equipment (public address system, fire doors, etc.).

Capacity and recommended wiring

Each zone can accommodate up to 32 manual call points over a maximum distance of 1000 m. If a zone terminal block is not used, install a jumper. The wiring recommendations are as follows: for manual call points (ref. 980) use an 8/10th Type C2 pair; for fire alarm diffusers (ref. 989-S, 989-SL) use a 1.5 mm² Type CR1 pair; for FIRE and AUX relays use a 1.5 mm² C2 pair.

Operating states and behavior of the power plant

The control panel has four main states—standby, zone alarm, neutral state, and test mode—indicated by the LEDs and resulting in the activation or deactivation of the audible signals and relays. To return to standby, all loops must be closed (rearmed).

- Standby state : the “power on” indicator is on steadily, the “Test/Fault” indicator is off, the alarm loops are normally closed and the relays remain at rest.

- Zone alarm : triggered when a control loop opens; the zone indicator turns red (steady or flashing as appropriate), the control panel emits an audible and visual signal, the FIRE and AUX relays activate and the diffusers broadcast the signal; after broadcast, the control panel goes into neutral state.

- Neutral state : after an alarm cycle the sound stops but the zone indicator light remains lit; the FIRE and AUX relays remain activated as long as the loop remains open; if the loop opens again, a new alarm cycle can start; the return to standby is obtained by closing all the loops.

- Test Mode : This mode allows you to check operation without activating the relays. Activation is done by the Test button (yellow Test/Fault indicator light on steadily). In Test mode, the detection of an alarm triggers a short 2-second signal on the internal siren and the diffusers, this test signal is repeated every 30 seconds until the zone is reset; exit Test mode by pressing Test again.

Installation, rearmament and maintenance

The control unit has accessible terminal blocks for connections and fixing centers suitable for standard installation. Resetting is carried out by closing the loops (resetting the manual triggers); once all the loops are closed, the relays return to their rest position. Follow the wiring recommendations and carry out regular tests to check the integrity of the loops and the reliability of the signals.
